I really appreciate it so have another creepy animation of me giving you my thanks! I can’t believe it was only 3 months ago that I was thanking you guys for 600 WHERE DID YOU ALL COME FROM. You fabulous wonderful people.

Chance for me to say now I wont be posting art for possibly a few weeks as I’m having double foot surgery after tomorrow, no sitting at my desk for a while! ); Will post sketches to my instagram @dommifox though!

Motivarti 4 weeks of Assignments! Sort of an art filler since I’m up to my face with uni work right now… Okay so maybe it’s not as much as I’d liked, but damn I’ve been busy! My mentor has been super understanding and great, so this project will definitely continue after the mentorship! Learnt a great deal so far just working with props- Exploring the importance of shape and style consistency. My mini story I created follows a little mouse girl and her first adventure outside of her home in search of potion ingredients- so the next few weeks will include character design and more enviro, what you see here is the development of the little mouse girl’s room and certain items that are important to her. I’d also like to point out a lot of time was spent learning how to paint properly!- hence the desk haha (:

Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of updates to my blog recently but I’ve been mega busy with final deadlines these past couple months and the motivarti mentorship! First of all I want to thank you all so much for the HUUUGE amount of support this past month! I gained over 1050 new followers and I’m in total awe! unfortunately I cant thank you all individually! so here’s a huge thanks for everyone (; Secondly I’ve had a few messages I didn’t get chance to answer and I’m super sorry about that, so I’ll answer them in bulk now! Photoshop indeed! I use CS4 and have done for the past 3 years

Your art is SO inspiring! I apologize if you’ve been asked this before, but do you ever overlay textures on your illustrations? If so, which ones do you use?

Thank youu! I don’t use textures anymore, I used to! A very simple craft paper overlay I’d find in google, but recently I’ve just been putting texture into my work using the defaults that come with the photoshop brushes- they do the trick!

Hey Dommifox, just would like to ask - how do you pick your colors? Do you have your own palette or do you just randomly select as you paint? I’m having a really difficult time knowing how to choose, considering the fact that there are like an infinite number of colors to choose from. Would be great if you could give tips. Thank you! (Also, discovering your wonderful blog made me want to start drawing regularly again, I love you <3)

You are so sweet whoever you are thank you! <3 someone asked me this before and I made a mini guide for it! Honestly, I still struggle to pick colours! Always learning and experimenting! But yeah it’s nice to have some solid ground to work with, the colour picker can be daunting sometimes haha, anyway I hope the mini guide helps someone! This is just my working knowledge so far and what I tend to go with when I colour I guess! Study life and look into colour theory! It’s not so daunting when you have the basics covered (; colours are fun!

hey!! I noticed you’re doing character animation at Teesside uni and I was wondering how good it is there? I’ve been considering Newcastle just because it’s nearby, but I’ve heard that Teesside is really good.

Hello! Aaah I honestly dread this question every time it pops up to me haha, I’ve got to be brutally honest here, I personally hate the university and course that I’m on. It’s had a lot of good rep in the past maybe, but in recent years the course has definitely gone down the drain, I blame the funding cuts for art and humanities that happened a couple years ago, the teaching is very poor, there’s a couple of lecturers who are fantastic, but with the course turning into more of a business, a lot of our practicals are just web tutorial based with little cognitive feedback and one single person minding them all, so yeah contact hours are poor also and feedback is practically none-existent inside practical time. For £8600 a year I can’t say I’d recommend it to anyone but don’t take my word for it, you’ll have to ask a range of people who’ve done the course I’d transfer in a heartbeat if I could but financially, that scares me, hah I’m 10k in debt as it is from just this single year
